1. Overview
Tripora is an iOS and Android app that helps you discover places nearby. This Privacy Policy explains what information is processed when you use the Tripora app and when you visit www.tripora.info.
By using Tripora, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
2. Information We Process
2.1 Location
Tripora uses your device location to find places near you, show them on the map, and calculate walking and driving times.
Location may also be included in anonymous analytics events when you search for places (latitude, longitude, and search radius).
If you save a place to a collection, its coordinates are stored in our cloud database together with the place details.
2.2 Account and Profile
When you first open the app, Tripora creates an anonymous account through Firebase Authentication. This gives you a unique user ID (UID) so your saved data can be stored in the cloud.
If you choose to save places to collections or publish Stories, we ask you to provide:
- Username (display name)
- Email address
These are stored in Firebase Firestore under your user profile.
You can use Tripora to browse and discover places without providing a username or email. Collections and Stories require this optional profile step.
2.3 Saved Places and Collections
When you save places, we store:
- Place title and description
- Coordinates (latitude and longitude)
- Image URLs
- Country/language code
- Date saved
Collections may also include a name, emoji, creation date, and a share token used to open the collection via a link.
Collections are public by default. Anyone with your collection link can view the places in that collection.
2.4 Stories
If you publish a Story from a collection, we store:
- Your user ID and username
- Collection name and cover image
- Optional caption you write
- Creation date and expiry date (Stories expire automatically after 7 days)
- View count
Stories are visible to other Tripora users in the app.
When you view a Story, we record that your user ID viewed it and when, to show viewed/unviewed state and update view counts.
2.5 AI Mode
When you use AI Mode, Tripora sends a request to DeepSeek (a third-party AI provider) containing:
- Your device language
- Information about nearby places: title, short description (up to 200 characters), distance, estimated walking and driving times, and language code
We do not send your email, username, or Firebase user ID to DeepSeek as part of this request. DeepSeek may still process standard request metadata such as IP address under its own privacy policy.
AI Mode usage limits are tracked locally on your device.
2.6 Analytics and Diagnostics
Tripora uses Google Firebase services:
- Firebase Analytics — anonymous usage events (for example, when you search for places, including approximate location and search radius)
- Firebase Crashlytics — crash reports and basic device information to fix bugs
2.7 Push Notifications
If you allow notifications, Tripora uses Firebase Cloud Messaging. Apple Push Notification service (APNs) and Firebase may process device tokens needed to deliver notifications. The app may store the Firebase messaging token locally on your device.
We do not currently use push notifications to send marketing messages without your consent.
2.8 Data Stored Only on Your Device
Some preferences are stored locally and not sent to our servers, including:
- Tutorial completion status
- AI Mode auto-generate preference
- AI Mode daily usage count
- Cached username (for convenience)
- Notification permission status
3. How We Use Information
We use the information above to:
- Show nearby places and routes
- Save, organize, and sync your collections
- Publish and display Stories
- Generate AI summaries through DeepSeek
- Share collections via links
- Improve app stability and understand how features are used
- Respond to support requests
We do not sell your personal data.
4. How Information Is Shared
We share information only in these situations:
4.1 Service Providers
| Provider | Purpose | Data involved |
|---|---|---|
| Google Firebase (Google Cloud) | Authentication, database, analytics, crash reporting, messaging | User ID, profile, collections, Stories, analytics, crash data |
| DeepSeek | AI Mode summaries | Place metadata, device language |
| Google Maps Platform | Map display | Location |
| Wikimedia / Wikipedia | Place descriptions and photos | Location-based queries |
| YouTube / Google | Curated video Stories when no user Stories are available | Public channel metadata only; no personal data sent |
| Apple | App distribution, push notifications, in-app systems | Per Apple's policies |
Each provider processes data under its own privacy policy.
4.2 Other Users
- Stories you publish are visible to other Tripora users.
- Collections shared via link are visible to anyone with that link.
- Your username appears on Stories you publish.
4.3 Legal Requirements
We may disclose information if required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security.
5. Data Retention
- Stories are automatically deleted from active display after 7 days (expiry date is set at publication).
- Collections and saved places remain until you delete them or request account/data deletion.
- Analytics and crash data are retained according to Firebase/Google default retention periods.
- Anonymous accounts persist until you request deletion or we remove inactive data as described in our Terms of Use.
6. Your Choices and Rights
You can:
- Decline notifications in iOS Settings
- Use the app without a profile (without collections and Stories)
- Delete saved places and collections within the app
- Delete your account and data directly in the app (gear icon → Delete Account), or visit tripora.info/delete-account for step-by-step instructions. You can also email us at developer@zinno.app
Depending on your location, you may have additional rights (access, correction, portability, objection). Contact us and we will respond within a reasonable time.
7. Children's Privacy
Tripora is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
8. International Transfers
Your data may be processed in countries where our service providers operate (including the United States and other countries where Google Cloud and DeepSeek process data). We rely on appropriate safeguards provided by these services.
9. Security
We use industry-standard measures through Firebase and secure connections (HTTPS) for API requests. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
10. Website (www.tripora.info)
This website does not collect personal data unless you explicitly accept cookies. If you accept, anonymous analytics may be loaded:
- Google Analytics 4 — anonymous usage statistics with IP anonymization
- Microsoft Clarity — session recordings and heatmaps for UX improvement
You can withdraw consent by clearing your browser's local storage.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the app or website changes materially. The "Last updated" date will change accordingly. Continued use after updates means you accept the revised policy.
